United Cities and Local Governments The Global Observatory on Local Democracy and Decentralisation (GOLD) was launched by UCLG in 2006 as part of its objective to become a main source of information on local self-government, local authorities, governance, local democracy and the exchange of know-how.
GOLD provides information on the state of decentralisation and its evolution, self-government and local governance across the world. The GOLD portal will be supplemented by periodic Global Reports on Decentralisation and Local Democracy, the first of which was published by UCLG in October 2007 in time for the 2nd World Congress in Jeju, South Korea. Other relevant publications and informations are also available, like the member and country profiles and new ones are added.
